Orange22 Designs New Breed of Hair Salons

For her new salon specializing in creating healthy hair, Natasha Sunshine wanted an environment that made a dynamic statement while highlighting the store's custom products. Designer and husband Dario Antonioni of Orange22 created a feminine, refined, whimsical space to reflect the originality of the Byu-ti (pronounced beauty) concept.

As clients enter the salon, a custom "mantra wall" welcomes them with quotes that have inspired Sunshine and reinforce the retailer's "giving goodness" slogan.

White and dark wood laminates play up contrast. Botanical graphics reflect the all-natural ingredients in Byu-ti products. Bits of pink dispersed throughout the space add visual interest.

Spaciousness is created by clean lines and modern fixturing, including Orange22's new retail display system, PULL. The system allows retailers and designers to select a wall configuration, choose a surface material, and mix and match fixture elements such as pegs and shelves that are then attached to the wall via magnets.

At the salon's Byu-ti Bar, botanical extracts and essential oils are blended to create custom products tailored to individual client's needs. Interactive and individualized, the Byu-ti bar lets the client be treated exclusively.

“Orange22 was attentive and creative," Sunshine says. "They listened closely to our needs and more than exceeded our expectations. We are thrilled with the space and feel that our story is poetically told throughout the retail and service client experience.”
