With no room for chairs to complete a tabletop floor display, this clever solution supports the store’s playfulness. “Found” chairs hang from a metal frame in the shape of a chandelier, thanks to custom wrought-iron single and double hooks of several lengths. Bare incandescent bulbs sporatically dangle between the chairs to complete the effect and add accent lighting. Measuring 8 ft. by 16 ft., the “chandelier” dominates the overhead space, beckoning mall shoppers into the store.

Excessive propping and decor, including antique chandeliers, candles, snow, vines, and foliage, convey “Merry Making Mischief” at a 1,000-sq.-ft. magical feast. A gold-leafed dining table running the length of the windows supports a cast of 53 mannequins. Their glamorous outfits, including a one-of-a-kind Dolce & Gabbana dress, are the height of fashion. The table, walls with mouldings, and parquet floor were custom made to fit the windows. A specialty painter aged the scenes with a faux finish.

Memorabilia, products, and graphics are uniquely presented in clear tubes. The use of lightweight thin acrylic in metal frames enabled the tubes to be suspended from the ceiling, calling to mind the ephemeral nature of the store. Spotlighting turns the historic items into museum artifacts. Bold graphics applied to fabric tubes underscore the LeBron James narrative to strengthen brand loyalty for the shoes and accessories. The off-the-floor concept encourages visitors to meander through the exhibition-like space.
