When the 60-year-old established boutique moved to a newly renovated shopping center, the retailer’s greatest fear was losing its affluent clientele. But by zoning the store to appeal to two sets of demographics, the new design not only retains loyal customers, but draws a new set of mainstream customers as well. This fixture grouping in the store’s exclusive carpeted, dramatically lit, raised area caters to the upscale client base.
Contrasting with a neutral background, a 2-ft.-6-in.-wide ebony table featuring seasonal high-end fashion wear meanders up the steps and cuts across the vast space, lending an air of privilege. Its 19-ft. journey leads shoppers to jewelry and accessories under glass in a mirror-tiled showcase. Transported crated to preserve the delicate tiles, the 8-ft.-by-2-ft.-by-3-ft.-6-in. showcase exudes glitz and glamour. Against the curved back wall, straight bar racks maintain the openness of the area by spacing merchandise apart.
The entire area is cordoned off by a 3D retro motif grill running 25 ft. 3 in. across the store’s width. Made of polished chrome and antique bronze, it was both welded and mechanically assembled. |
