Five “specialty stores,” each level with its own identity, break up the massive 338,000 sq. ft. Shallow departments framed by large-scale black eyebrow mouldings create intimacy, while unobstructed views are maintained via an open floor plan with wide aisles, uninterrupted sightlines, tall ceilings, and a 33-ft. gap around the escalator. Iconic details such as the black and white checkerboard floor strengthen branding. Reflective and high-contrast surfaces and upscale visual merchandising imbue the store with glamour.

The stark pre-existing shell of a previous movie theater and food court are juxtaposed with rich detailing and luxurious materials and textures in this 45,000-sq.-ft. new store. Working in concert are solid brass, nickel, bleached mahogany, cerused oakwood, anigre marble, precast concrete, and parquet. Custom furniture, natural fabrics, and a working fireplace elicit a warm residential feel, while a 45-ft. skylight brings in daylight. A Y-shaped stairwell encourages customer flow between floors.

Modern classic furniture with custom fixtures reflect edgy luxury. Architecture and finishes delineate merchandise areas for organic traffic flow, letting shoppers interact with merchandise and offering flexibility for future designer shops. Frosted glass privacy screening defers to Middle Eastern shoppers’ modesty. Large show windows highlight inventive, engaging displays. Color-changing circular LED fixtures light a three-floor escalator volume. Polished wood and stone augment the sparkling atmosphere, while 1,200-lux lighting psychologically foils the desert heat.
