Criteria & Judging Process
An independent panel of judges will determine a Grand Prize winner and up to two Outstanding Merits in each category. One overall store entry will also be awarded Store of the Year. In addition, several store fixtures will receive Store Fixture Awards, one of which will be awarded Fixture of the Year. All awards are determined at the judges' discretion; decisions are final.
The principal criteria for judging will be
• excellence in design
• originality in the use of space and fixtures
• quality in executing the total concept
Store Fixture Awards will further critique the functionality and integration of the fixture(s) in support of the store’s overall brand.
Winners will be notified by February 15, 2006.
Awards Presentation
Awards for the winning entries will be presented at NASFM's 50th Anniversary Celebration and Retail Design Awards Presentation at the end of the first day of GlobalShop, the NASFM-sponsored trade show that takes place in Orlando in 2006. The awards presentation has been scheduled for Monday, March 26, 2006, from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the Orange County Convention Center.

Awards Acceptance
All companies that contributed to projects receiving Grand Prizes, Store of the Year, or Fixture of the Year will be invited on stage during the awards ceremony. The designated recipient, generally the lead designer or fixture manufacturer, will be presented with a crystal award onstage and will have the opportunity to make a brief acceptance speech. Outstanding Merit and Store Fixture Award recipients will be recognized during the awards presentation and will receive crystal awards afterwards in the Winners area.
All winners receive project coverage online, in print, and in the new digital display area at GlobalShop. After GlobalShop, each winning company will receive a certificate and the opportunity to purchase group photos and crystal awards in their company’s name.
Press Coverage
Award winners receive coverage in a special supplement produced by DDI, the Presenting Sponsor of NASFM’s Retail Design Awards, online coverage on www.nasfm.org, and exposure in other leading press, including NASFM Magazine, VM+SD, and Chain Store Age. |
