Joseph Nevin is a founding principal of the retail group of Boston-based Bergmeyer Associates. Twenty two of his 27 years in retail design have been spent with Bergmeyer. As senior principal, he leads the firm's design and prototype efforts, specializing in retail and museum retail stores of 30,000 sq. ft. and smaller. Clients include L.L.Bean, Talbots, Levi Strauss & Co., Nike, Puma, O'Neill Surf Shop, and French Connection.

Nevin’s comprehensive understanding of brand analysis, identity development, visual merchandising, and store planning has taken Bergmeyer to national prominence and an international marketplace in retail design. His expertise in strategic positioning and the relationship between design excellence and the customer experience has garnered Bergmeyer wide publication and has secured him a frequent speaking role at design schools and industry conferences. Under Nevin's leadership, Bergmeyer has racked up an impressive array of industry awards, including several NASFM Retail Design Award grand prizes and fixture awards and numerous Chain Store Age, ISP/VM+SD, and SADI awards, among others.

Nevin’s professional experience goes well beyond the shopping center. Recently, institutional clients such as museums, aquariums, and universities have sought Bergmeyer’s advice on how their retail presence can enhance their cultural mission.
 
Nevin is a member of the American Association of Museums, the International Council of Shopping Centers, the National Retail Federation, and the Newbury Street League. He has also served on the Editorial Advisory Board of Retail Store Image and the Advisory Board of the Retail Contractors Association. He is past-president and current member of the Board of Directors of the Institute of Store Planners and serves on the Editorial Advisory Board for DDI.
