As store planners increasingly look to A.R.E. as a one-stop resource for their retail environments needs, the association is building a significant design community, comprising key players in retail. Their collective portfolio spans all genres of retail, from department stores to specialty shops, from restaurants to shop-in-stores. Together, their work is responsible for thousands of store prototypes and renovations worldwide. A.R.E. designer members include industry leaders recognized for creating innovative, brand-evolving, and trend-setting retail environments.

A.R.E.'s Designers of Retail Environments and Merchandising Team (DREAM Team) is a member focus group dedicated to the needs of the retail design community. For instance, their suggestions have resulted in greater emphasis on green products at GlobalShop. The Team's Executive Committee is responsible for developing programs and services to address the needs of retail designers.
